Starlink Standard Kit - Quick Setup

Simple Steps to Get Online Fast.

Quick Setup Steps:

  1. Prepare the Kit: Unpack all items and place the Starlink dish face down on a soft, flat surface to protect it.
  2. Power the Router: Connect the Starlink router to a power outlet using the provided power cable.
  3. Connect Dish Cable: Choose your outdoor dish location with a clear sky view. Connect the dish cable to both the Starlink router and the dish itself.
  4. Mount the Dish: Attach the stand to the dish and carefully place it upright in your chosen outdoor location.

Important Dish Note: The Starlink dish is motorized and will automatically orient to find satellites upon power-up. Do not manually adjust or force the dish.

Wi-Fi Setup: Once powered, a Wi-Fi network named "STARLINK" will appear. Customize your Wi-Fi name and password using the Starlink app:

Power: Standard Starlink kit uses AC power. DC power requires a pure sine wave inverter to convert from DC to AC.

Returning Your Starlink Rental Kit

Easy Steps for Hassle-Free Returns.

To ensure your Starlink dish is safely packed for its return journey, please activate Stow Mode before shipping. This retracts the dish and allows it to fit securely in the travel case.

How to Stow Your Dish:

  1. Connect to Starlink Wi-Fi: Ensure your mobile device is connected to your Starlink Wi-Fi network.
  2. Open the Starlink App: Launch the Starlink App on your connected device.
  3. Navigate to Stow: Within the app, go to Settings > Starlink > Stow.
  4. Activate Stow Mode: Swipe or tap the "Stow" button. The dish will automatically retract into its stowed position.

Manual Stow Option: If you cannot use the Starlink app on a mobile device, a manual stow procedure is available. Please refer to our step-by-step guide for manual stowing instructions: Manual Stow Instructions.

Return Shipping Instructions:

A pre-paid return shipping label is provided with your rental kit. Please follow these simple steps to return your Starlink kit:

Affix the Return Label: Carefully remove the original shipping label from the case and firmly attach the pre-paid return shipping label in its place. Ensure the return label is clearly visible.

Choose Your Drop-off Method: Select your preferred return method from the options below:

UPS Drop-off Point: Drop off your kit at your convenience at any UPS Access Point. To find your nearest location, please visit the UPS website.

UPS Collection Service: If you prefer a collection from your location, please schedule a UPS collection by contacting us. We will assist you in arranging a suitable collection time.

Security Deposit Refund

Your security deposit will be automatically refunded in full once the Starlink kit is returned to us in good working order, as per our Terms and Conditions. The refund will be processed back to your original payment method, typically within 7-10 business days of kit return.

We ship all Starlink Rental Kits via UPS to ensure quick and reliable delivery across the entire United Kingdom. Typically, orders are dispatched 3-7 business days before your rental start date, to arrive latest the day before your rental begins.

While we strive for on-time delivery, unforeseen issues or last-minute bookings may occasionally cause kits to arrive late, we will arrange alternative options and provide updates. In the unlikely event that your kit arrives after your rental start date, we will promptly refund you for any days lost.

Kit Returns

Returning your Starlink Rental Kit is simple. Each kit includes a pre-paid UPS return shipping label within the packaging.
Replace Labels: Carefully remove the used shipping label from the peli-case and attach the pre-paid return shipping label in its place.

SKYLINK RENTALS TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Agreement

By accessing and using the Skylink Rentals website (https://skylinkrentals.co.uk) and the rental services provided by Skylink Rentals, operating as a sole trader, you enter into a legally binding agreement and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms and Conditions, you must not use the Skylink Rentals website or its services.

Rental Equipment

Skylink Rentals agrees to rent the specified Skylink terminals and any associated equipment (referred to as the “Equipment” or “Kit”) to the customer. Skylink Rentals warrants that the Equipment will be in good working order and suitable for its intended purpose at the commencement of the rental period.

Payment

All rental costs are payable in advance upon booking confirmation via the payment methods specified on the website, including major credit/debit cards and PayPal.

Security Deposit

A security deposit of £250 is required for each Starlink Rental Kit. This deposit serves as security to ensure the Equipment is returned to Skylink Rentals in good working condition, fair wear and tear excepted. In the event of damage to the Equipment beyond reasonable wear and tear, or loss of Equipment, Skylink Rentals reserves the right to deduct costs for repair or replacement from the security deposit. Examples of deductions include, but are not limited to, damaged cables or components. In all cases of deduction, Skylink Rentals will provide the customer with a detailed breakdown of costs and updated invoice. In cases where repair or replacement costs are less than the full deposit, the remaining balance of the security deposit will be refunded. In the unlikely event that the Equipment is not returned at all, Skylink Rentals reserves the right to withhold the security deposit in full to cover costs associated with the non-return of the equipment.

Inspection and Responsibility

Upon receipt of the Equipment, the customer shall inspect it and notify Skylink Rentals immediately (within 24 hours of receipt) of any pre-existing damage or defects. Failure to notify within this timeframe will be deemed as acceptance of the Equipment in good working order. The customer accepts full responsibility for the care and maintenance of the Equipment while in their possession and will take reasonable precautions to protect it from damage, loss, or theft. Damage considered beyond reasonable wear and tear will be the customer’s responsibility and will be assessed by Skylink Rentals.

Equipment Replacement

The customer shall be responsible for the replacement at the full retail value of any Equipment rented under this agreement but not returned to Skylink Rentals within 7 days of the agreed return date. In such cases, the security deposit may be forfeited in part or full, and the customer will be liable for any remaining replacement costs, including reasonable attorney’s fees if needed for recovery of costs.   

Late Return Fees

The customer agrees to return the Equipment to Skylink Rentals on or before the agreed return date. If the Equipment is not received back by Skylink Rentals within 5 business days following the agreed return date, a daily late fee will be charged, deducted from the security deposit. If the late return extends beyond 10 business days, it will be considered as unreturned Equipment under the “Equipment Replacement” clause above. In cases where the customer continues to use the Equipment beyond the agreed rental period without prior authorised extension, Skylink Rentals reserves the right to implement a forced rental extension and charge for the additional days at the standard daily rate, or remotely disable the Equipment.

Return of Equipment

The customer agrees to return the Equipment in its original packaging, clean and free from damage beyond reasonable wear and tear, and in working order, to avoid any charges against the security deposit (beyond reasonable wear and tear or late fees as outlined above). Return shipping instructions and a pre-paid return label will be provided with the Equipment.

Delivery and Collection

Skylink Rentals will dispatch the Equipment for delivery to the address specified by the customer during the booking process. While Skylink Rentals will endeavour to meet requested delivery dates, these are estimates only and are not guaranteed. The customer is responsible for ensuring the delivery address is accurate and secure and for being available to receive the Equipment or make arrangements for safe receipt. If collection of the Equipment is agreed upon, Skylink Rentals will arrange collection from the customer's specified address. Costs for delivery and collection, if applicable, will be clearly stated during the booking process.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

The customer may cancel a rental booking up to 5 days before the scheduled shipping date and receive a full refund of the rental fees paid and the security deposit. Cancellations made within 5 days of the scheduled shipping date will result in a 50% refund of the rental fees paid and a 100% refund of the security deposit. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made after the rental start date or after the kit has been shipped. Refunds will be processed within 7-10 business days of cancellation confirmation to the original payment method.

Rental Period Extensions

Requests for rental period extensions must be made at least 48 hours prior to the original return date and are subject to Equipment availability and Skylink Rentals' sole discretion. If an extension is granted, additional rental fees will apply for the extended period and must be paid in advance upon confirmation of the extension.

Termination by Skylink Rentals

Skylink Rentals reserves the right to terminate the rental agreement at any time, without notice, and to demand the immediate return of the Equipment if any of the following occur:

  • The customer breaches any of these Terms and Conditions.
  • The Equipment is used in any unlawful or inappropriate manner or in violation of Starlink’s Acceptable Use Policy.
  • Equipment becomes unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., prior damage, loss). In this case, Skylink Rentals will offer a full refund of rental fees and security deposit as the customer’s sole remedy.

Upon termination of this Agreement by Skylink Rentals, the customer shall immediately return the Equipment at their own expense. Skylink Rentals reserves the right to withhold the security deposit in part or full to cover any costs incurred due to the customer's breach, or unreturned equipment.

Force Majeure

Skylink Rentals shall not be liable for any failure to perform its obligations under these Terms and Conditions due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control (Force Majeure), including but not limited to acts of God, war, riots, fire, flood, pandemic, strikes, equipment malfunction not due to Skylink Rentals' negligence, or loss/damage of Equipment in transit to the customer (where Skylink Rentals takes reasonable steps to investigate and resolve). In a Force Majeure event preventing rental commencement, Skylink Rentals' liability is limited to a full refund of rental fees and security deposit already paid.

Liability and Indemnification

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the customer agrees to hold harmless and indemnify Skylink Rentals, its sole trader operator, and its agents from and against any and all losses, liabilities, damages, claims, actions, causes of action, costs, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of or relating to: (i) the customer’s use, misuse, or abuse of the Equipment; (ii) any breach of these Terms and Conditions by the customer; (iii) any negligence or wilful misconduct of the customer in relation to the Equipment. This indemnification includes, but is not limited to, claims for property damage, personal injury, or death.

Release of Liability

The customer hereby releases and discharges Skylink Rentals, its sole trader operator, from any and all liability for damage and injury to the customer and/or any other person and/or property resulting from negligence, installation, maintenance, selection, adjustment, and/or use of the Equipment rented hereunder, or any other fault, accepting full responsibility for any and all such damage and/or injury which may result therefrom.

Limitation of Damages

In any contract, tort, or other action against Skylink Rentals, damages are limited to the amount of the rental fee actually paid by the customer. The customer agrees that in no event shall Skylink Rentals be liable for any consequential, indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or exemplary damages, or for loss of profits or revenue, even if Skylink Rentals has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Prohibited Use

The customer acknowledges that it is strictly forbidden to operate the rented Equipment under the influence of narcotics, and/or mind-altering or illegal substances, or for any unlawful purpose. The customer is prohibited from using the Equipment for any activities that violate Starlink’s Acceptable Use Policy (referenced below) or any applicable laws or regulations.

Acceptable Use Policy

The customer agrees to adhere to Starlink’s Acceptable Use Policy currently located at: https://www.starlink.com/legal/documents/DOC-1001-59234-61?regionCode=UK . The customer is responsible for ensuring their use of the Equipment complies with this policy.   

Equipment Instructions

The customer confirms that they have been provided with and understand all instructions on the use of the Equipment, including setup, operation, and stowage. The customer acknowledges their responsibility to read and fully understand all instructions provided by Skylink Rentals regarding the setup, use, and stowage of the Equipment.

Insurance

Skylink Rentals does not provide insurance coverage for rented Equipment. Customers are advised to consider obtaining their own insurance to cover potential risks associated with Equipment use during the rental period, especially for events or higher-value applications.

Data Privacy and GDPR

Skylink Rentals is committed to protecting the customer's personal data. Personal data provided by the customer will be used to process orders, manage rentals, provide customer support, and improve website services, as outlined in the Skylink Rentals Privacy Policy. Customer data may be shared with trusted third-party partners, such as UPS for shipping and delivery tracking, and with our accounting software provider for transaction reconciliation and refunds. Skylink Rentals implements reasonable security measures to protect customer data stored on our secure website servers, which are regularly monitored and updated. By using Skylink Rentals' website and services, the customer consents to the collection, use, and disclosure of their personal data in accordance with the Skylink Rentals Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).   

Dispute Resolution

Skylink Rentals is committed to customer satisfaction and will endeavour to resolve any disputes fairly and efficiently. Customers are encouraged to contact Skylink Rentals directly to discuss any concerns or issues. In the unlikely event that a dispute cannot be resolved through direct communication, both parties agree to first attempt to resolve the matter through good-faith negotiation.

Severability

If any clause or provision of these Terms and Conditions is deemed unenforceable or invalidated by law, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

Age Requirement

By agreeing to these Terms and Conditions, the customer certifies that they are 18 years of age or older.

Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms and Conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Modifications

Skylink Rentals reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time, without prior individual notice. Skylink Rentals will post any modifications on its website (https://skylinkrentals.co.uk). It is the customer’s responsibility to review the current Terms and Conditions before each rental. Continued use of the Skylink Rentals website and its services after modifications are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms and Conditions.

Entire Agreement

These Terms and Conditions, along with the Skylink Rentals Privacy Policy and any rental agreement or booking confirmation, constitute the entire agreement between the customer and Skylink Rentals with respect to the rental of Equipment and supersede all prior or contemporaneous understandings, agreements, negotiations, representations, warranties, and communications, both written and oral.

Liability for Illegal Activity

During the rental period, the customer is solely responsible and liable for any illegal activity conducted while using the rented Equipment, including but not limited to activities that violate Starlink’s Acceptable Use Policy, as outlined on their website (https://www.starlink.com/legal/documents/DOC-1001-59234-61?regionCode=UK). The customer agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Skylink Rentals from any claims, damages, or legal actions arising from such illegal activities.

Skylink Rentals is operated as a sole trader business, trading as Skylink Rentals, and based in Hertfordshire, United Kingdom. For any formal correspondence or legal notices, please use this address. Customer Obligations Summary

To ensure a smooth rental experience, customers agree to the following key obligations:

  • Provide accurate and complete booking information.
  • Inspect Equipment upon receipt and report any pre-existing damage within 24 hours.
  • Use the Equipment responsibly and in accordance with provided instructions and Starlink's Acceptable Use Policy.
  • Protect the Equipment from damage, loss, or theft during the rental period.   
  • Return the Equipment on or before the agreed return date, in its original packaging and in good working order, fair wear and tear excepted.   
  • Pay all rental fees, security deposits, and any applicable late return or damage charges.
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations in relation to Equipment use.

By using the Skylink Rentals website and its services, the customer confirms their understanding and agreement to be bound by these Terms and Conditions in full.

    For urgent Starlink rental needs, please submit a request highlighting the urgency, and we will respond promptly. Subject to kit availability, your location within the UK, and the time of your order, we may offer same-day dispatch for next-day delivery. In certain situations, we can also arrange a private courier for same-day delivery.

    While initial delivery is within the UK, you are welcome to travel and use the Starlink rental kit internationally at no extra charge. Please check Starlink’s coverage map https://www.starlink.com/map to confirm service availability in your destination.

    Yes, you can integrate your own router with the Starlink rental kit. Simply connect an ethernet cable from the Starlink network adapter (included) to the WAN port on your preferred router.

    To return your Starlink kit, first “Stow” the dish using the Starlink App (for standard kits). Connect to the Starlink network and open the Starlink APP. Find the “STOW” button under settings > Starlink > Stow.

    Your £250 security deposit per Starlink rental kit will be refunded once the kit is returned in good working order. Refunds are processed using the original payment method via a partial reversal of the initial transaction.

    Starlink is known for its high-speed internet, but actual speeds may fluctuate depending on your location and current network traffic. Generally, users can anticipate download speeds between 50Mbps and 250Mbps, and upload speeds ranging from 10Mbps to 25Mbps.

    Please note that the Starlink Mini kit may offer slightly lower speeds compared to the standard kit due to its compact design.

    While the Starlink dish needs to be placed outdoors with a clear sky view to connect to the satellites, the WiFi router can be positioned indoors. The standard Starlink kit includes a 15-meter cable to connect the dish and router, allowing for flexible placement.

    The Starlink Mini offers an even more compact setup as the dish and router are integrated into one unit.

    Customizing your Starlink Wi-Fi settings is easy via the Starlink mobile app, available on the Apple App Store https://apps.apple.com/us/app/starlink/id1537177988 and Google Play Store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.starlink.mobile.

    Download the app, connect your device to the Starlink Wi-Fi network, and then you can easily modify your Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password within the app settings.

    Alternatively, this can also be done with a browser and while connected to the Starlink router to access 192.168.1.1 and a configuration page will prompt

    To prepare your standard Starlink kit for return, it’s important to stow the dish.

    While connected to your Starlink network, open the Starlink App and navigate to Settings > Starlink > Stow. Swipe the “Stow” option, and the dish will stow itself. Please note: Stowing is only required for the standard dish, not the Starlink Mini.

    To set the Starlink to bypass mode first the router must be in a factory default state, meaning no WIFI SSID or password has been set.

    Once the Kit is powered up connect to it via wifi or ethernet cable and open a web browser page on 192.168.1.1
    A web interface will open and you may select the option: Enable Router Bypass mode

    This mode should only be used under some specific circumstances like if you require port forwarding with the publicly available IPV6, if you wish to use your own router equipment, etc..

    When in bypass mode the Starlink app will not be able to communicate with the router preventing the dish from being stowed via the app so to stow the dish in bypass mode we have 2 options.

    Option 1:
    Reset the router back to normal by power cycling the router 6 times then connect to the Wi-Fi name STARLINK and then stow via the app normally

    Option 2:

    Face the dish upside down and then power cycle the router and after a minute or two the dish will stow

      I’m going to try my very best to put into words how wonderful my experience with Skylink Rentals was, but actually finding the right words to describe how faultless the whole process was may be a challenge.

      My husband and I hired the Skylink system for our wedding on May 25th, 2024. Our venue was perfect for us but it was ‘off-grid’ and we wanted our guests to use a disposable camera app throughout the day and be able to check on their kids as we had child free wedding (four dogs were in attendance though #priorities). After getting quotes for THOUSANDS to install a WIFI system, we thought all hope was lost, but after a bit of research I found Francisco and his team. Our prayers were well and truly answered.

      From enquiry, to use, completion and send back, the whole experience was, as I said, faultless. Totally affordable, easy to set up and with customer service that 5 stars doesn’t feel good enough to cover, we’re almost searching for a new event to organise so we can work with Francisco again! We’ve given the Skylink Rental details to our venue and wedding coordinators and couldn’t have been happier with how everything worked.

      Our venue was in the middle of nowhere in Kent with, at its strongest, one bar of signal. With the Skylink, we had around 100 guests hooked up to personalised WIFI and to totally able to do anything they needed. If you’re wondering whether this is all too good to be true, it really isn’t! You’re in totally safe hands and with the level of personal customer service you’ll receive, you’ll end up feeling like you have a friend on the other end of your emails.

      Don’t hesitate to book! Seriously… Other than choosing the husband I did, using this service was the best decision we made for our wedding!

      Rented 2 of the kits for a multi-day event where phone signal completely fails due to the number of people in the area, Starlink went off without a hitch allowing us to take payments (increasing our revenue quite significantly) and check customers in in the middle of a field just with a power hook up.

      Francisco was excellent with keeping us updated and made sure the kit arrived on time
